rehearsal agenda for Sunday, Nov. 2

What a fantastic sectionals rehearsal last night! We covered much ground, and I hope that everyone is feeling really good about Bach right now.

Sunday's rehearsal runs from 6-8:30 at Friends. (Don't forget: set your clocks back on Saturday night.)

There seemed to be consensus to work only on Bach Sunday, so that's what we're going to do. The rehearsal plan will look roughly like this:

6-6:10 warmup
6:10-7pm work 1st movement, full ensemble, slowly
7-7:15 work 3rd movement, full ensemble, slowly
15-30 BREAK
30-8pm continue/finish work on 3rd movement, full ensemble, slowly
8-8:30 run Bach, moving to tempo

The goodness of last night's rehearsal didn't happen by accident: it was based in your own preparation. With that in mind, don't neglect some preparation before Sunday. We're not ready to rest yet. That can happen on November 30 at 5pm.

Slow audio files now posted!

Thom Sargent has been very kind in producing a number of slowed-down recordings of the Gloria. These are slow, but at pitch so that make for good practice.

You can find these files, posted as YouTube audio, in the right column (desktop/web version of the blog) under "Choral Learning Files." ===========>>>>

revised roster

In the past few weeks, I've heard from several singers who were at our reading rehearsal but do not appear on the roster. Because seating is limited to 80 at the Zeiterion, you must be on the roster in order to sing for this concerts. Specific seating will be assigned when we get closer to the concert date.

If you are not on the roster and wish to join, please email me. If you are not on the roster, please do not attend rehearsals. (There are no more alto openings. There continues to be a need for tenors and basses. Sopranos will be considered.)

If there are any errors, please let me know. Here's the roster as of 10/23:

At last night's reading rehearsal, we identified the areas that need the greatest attention:

  • Bach I: rehearsal E & G
  • Bach III: rehearsal C & E
Be prepared to work those hard next time. Above all, know those rehearsal letters before the next rehearsal! A rehearsal agenda will be sent closer to the date of our next rehearsal (10/29).
